  • Currency: US Dollar - It used to be Colon but it was changed in 2001

  • Population: as of 2009 is 5.7 million

  • Land Size: It has a total area of 8,123 square miles (21,040 km²). It is about the size of New Jersey. It has 123.6 square miles (320 km²) of water within its borders
  • Capital: San Salvador

  • Borders: Guatemala, Honduras, and the pacific ocean

  • Land Divisions: Called departments (Departamentos) - Ahuachapan, Cabañas, Chalatenango, Cuscatlan, La Libertad, La Paz, La Union, Morazan, San Miguel, San Salvador, San Vicente, Santa Ana, Sonsonate, and Usulutan.
