The Japan population as of June 2008 was at 127.7 million. This makes Japan the 10th most populous country in the world.

Japan is smaller than California and with 27 million people, it leaves hardly any room to accommodate them. It is is not so bad though. Japan ranks 32th in the world because its population density is of 339 people per square kilometer. It's density population is three times greater than Europe as a whole and twelve times greater than the United States.
