Guyana Flag

Guyana's National Flag has FIVE symbolic colors -- GREEN represents the agricultural and forested nature of all Guyana, WHITE symbolizes the rivers and water potential of the country, Guyana's mineral wealth is a represented by the GOLDEN arrow, BLACK portrays the endurance that will sustain the forward thrust of the Guyanese people, and RED represents the zeal and dynamic nature of nation-building which lies before the young and independent Guyana.

The flag of Guyana was adopted in 1966 and was designed by a prominent American vexillologist Whitney Smith. The national flag of Guyana is also called ‘The Golden Arrowhead’ because the flag has a yellow and a red arrow on its green base.
