Capital of Libya

Capital of Libya

Libya's capital is Tripoli. According to Wikipedia, the word Tripoli in Greek means "Three cities."

Tripoli is located in the northwest region of Libya on the edge of the desert. The US Census states that Tripoli has a population of 1,065,405. This makes it the largest city of Libya and it is the principal port of this country.

The city was founded in the 7th century BC which still has monuments that date back to that time. Right now, Tripoli's air defenses are being destroyed by the coalition due to Gaddafi ruthless treatment of its citizens. Because of the historic value, these old structures are at risk of being destroyed.
